Light is among most fundamental forces. Light also represents the very rudiments of photography. My work is about illumination. I am interested in the literal side of the equation, that is things that emit and shape light. I am also curious about the metaphorical aspect, which lies below the surface and often can only be suggested. Some objects emit strange light or are exceptional carriers of light in their own right. They often seem both ordinary and miraculous by turn. Other objects bend light, reorganizing the radiant to it's own purposes.
I am interested in the history of the present. Due to it's historical authority Wet-plate allows us to look deeply at objects no matter how ordinary. It encourages re-seeing the strangeness that exists under the surface of daily habit.
